Living Hope: Our “Receiving Church” in South Africa

Our home church in South Africa will be Living Hope, in Sunnyside, inner-city Pretoria. You can visit their website here.

Living Hope is pastored by Josh Mack and is the 3rd church planted out of Grace Fellowship, a church in the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.

Living Hope was launched in August 2009 and is already wonderfully diverse: made up of people from different countries (refugees from Zimbabwe, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Burundi amongst them), different ethnicities, and different economic brackets – something not often seen in South Africa. It’s very exciting!

These 4 words sum up the vision of Living Hope:

1.  Glory: We are here to be stunned by the greatness of God and to worship Him.

2.  Gospel: The gospel is the power of God for salvation and personal transformation and so we want to know and understand the gospel and challenge one another to live in ways that match the truths we profess.

3.  Community: We were made and saved to have deep, biblical relationships with one another.  We need these kinds of friendships because we are human and because they are one of the main ways God changes us.

4.   Mission: Life is about way more than simply being as comfortable as possible.  We are here for a purpose and that purpose is to make God look great through happy, sacrificial obedience to what He calls us to in His Word.

You can access their doctrinal statement here.
